Minutes of Louisiana Contest Club

The meeting was called to order by President Mark Ketchell K5ER at 11:00 am.

K5ER extended welcome to members and guests, and gave a basic overview of LCC given; referred all to Nov/Dec 2008 article to appear in National Contest Journal.

All introduced themselves.

Motion made by NA5Q, seconded by KG5VK to dispense with reading the minutes of the previous meeting.

The first order of business was the presentation of the ARRL Affiliated Club certificate by Jim Bookter N5NVP.

President’s Report by K5ER

1. LCC has obtained vanity call N5LCC

2. ARRL Affiliation granted 10 Sept 2008

3. EIN granted/assigned by IRS

4. Bank account (checking) established at Iberia Bank; president and sec/treas have debit cards on that account

5. PayPal account established

6. Domain name N5LCC.com is available; cost $9.95 to register. No opposition to registering N5LCC.com

7. LouisianaContestClub.org will be migrated from K5ER business site to stand alone site, cost $60 annually

8. E-mail reflector will be established, managed by K5ER

Jim N5NVP reminded of the importance to annually update the affiliated club report with ARRL, due Sept 22, 2009. The report will need the election date of officers. Jim encouraged us to pursue ARRL Special Service Club status.

K5ER stated that LCC is already becoming recognized as active contest club.

LA Sec of State Incorporation – discussion ensued. Conclusion reached that we probably don’t want to do since we are not in business of selling things, don’t own property, and don’t have a permanent physical location.

IRS Non-profit status – 80 page application & $300 fee. Deadline is April 2009. Tax-exempt status is on hold. Application has not been submitted.
