Meeting Minutes

September 23, 2017

The final meeting of the LCC for 2017 took place at the Alexandria hamfest on September 23, 2017. In the absense of other officers, the meeting was called to order at 10:40 by Sec/Treas, K5ER.

Unfortunately, for 2017 the Alexandria hamfest had changed from an October date to September, and conflicted with the CW WW RTTY contesst. Becasue of this, we had lower than usual turnout, even though it was our annual election meeting. Members present were W5LA, KV5J and K5ER.

Since they had been posted on the web-site, reading of last meeting's minutes was dispensed with. A complete financial report was given.

LaQP was discussed. Mailing certificates for 2017 winners is pending, and there will be some postage associated with this. As soon as certificates are mailed, a complete list of category winners will be posted to the LaQP web site.

Elections for next year's officers didn't go quite as smooth as usual, because there were so many people vieing for the top positions. We had a total of ONE nominee for each officer's position at the Shreveport meeting, and although we ran the nomination period twice as long as usual, there were no further nominees. Online voting commenced only a few days before the meeting and we had 10 votes all confirming those nominated. Live votes from the meeting were added and it was still unanimous. Our incoming officers for 2018 are:

President - Scott, W5WZ

Vice-President - Bobby, WM5H

Sec/Treas - Mark, K5ER

Director - Ted, KN5O

Director, Jim, W5LA

Upcoming contests were discussed and participation was encouraged. We also hope to make better use of the email reflector and prompt members to form teams, paticipate more, take part in multi-op opportiunities, etc. We can help each other by participating, asking questions on the reflector, encouraging each other and supporting each other. Got a pending antenna or tower project? Let others know and you might just get some help - or be able to mentor someone elae who wants to do something but doesn't know how.

Dues for 2018 were received from KV5J.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Our next meeting will be at the Rayne hamfest, date and time to be announced.
